Antipodean Beauties - Red

Hurrah! I managed another AB challenge! I'm pretty proud of myself. The theme this week was "Red", and since I knew that everyone was going to go for red lips, I initially tried to do a red eye look. I hear it's "on trend" or something, but it just make me look like I had a nasty infection, so I scrapped that and went for red lips as well. BUT, for flavour, I decided to do a whole red outfit.

The dress was ten dollars second hand from Ebay, and is apparently from the usually dreadful "Capture" brand by Ezibuy. It's SUPER comfortable, if a little generous around the bust.

Twirling like a pretty Princess!

I don't do full on red lips very often, because I always feel compelled to attempt really flawless skin to go with them. I find it really hard to wear red lips "casually", no matter how many times I see other people pull it off. For this look I used Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream all over my face; I'm currently really digging this one because it has a decent SPF factor in it so I don't need to muck about with sunscreen under or over it. On my lips I have Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Gothic, under Geek Chic Cosmetics Joystick in Just Bitten.

For the eyes I used Otta Benga from Eccentric Cosmetics in the corners, and Will There Really Be Cake? from Geek Chic Cosmetics all over the lids. I used Essence Ink Liner as well, but can't say I was particularly impressed. The brush is too long and bendy, and while it promises "waterproof" it creases like WHOA.

While these photos don't really show off the makeup or the dress, I do think they're pretty. Mr. Reluctant Femme is surprisingly good at photography on occasion.

Let's see if I can try a bit harder to keep up with these in future!

    1. I really need to wear it more often. The halter neck makes me cautious, but it does suit me quite well once I dig out my one suitable bra.

  2. Lovely outfit and makeup. You pull it all of perfectly.
I'll never understand how you and other people get such beautiful crisp lines for their red lips. I need a lip liner and like epic amounts of patience and make-up remover and cutips to make it happen. Kudos!

    1. I think it's probably the same deal as liquid eyeliner...it's all about practice. Going Goth clubbing for many years was excellent practice - nothing shows up wonky edges like dark berry lipstick!
