A Very Special Post

I've been sitting on the news I'm about to reveal in this post for over a week now, and I gotta tell you, it's been KILLING me. I'm SO excited to tell you about the two incredibly exciting things I have for you today, I hardly know where to start.

You might have noticed that I'm a big fan of Australian indie nail polish label Loki's Lacquer - I've posted about their polishes a few times here before. A little while ago they released an extremely limited run of some amazing duochrome polishes with scattered holographic particles in them, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on two of them before they sold out. As far as I know, Loki's Lacquer is not planning on ever doing another run of these.

The first one is Purple Rain, which I was going to buy no matter WHAT it looked like because I am that much of a Prince fangirl. But I was happy to discover when I opened my package is absolutely breathtaking.

The blue to purple duochrome shift is amazingly strong, and the holo particles twinkle away even in the dimmest of lights. It's a tiny bit sheer (like almost all duochrome polishes) so I layered this over a Kleencolor I had lying around called Disco Purple.

The other polish I managed to snag from this collection is called Blue Steel - again, it's a duochrome with holo particles, but the duochrome shift is much more subtle. It's a turquiose blue to steely grey shift, so it's very hard to capture in pictures, but is definitely there on the nail. This one is less sheer than Purple Rain because of the blue foil, so I think if you were patient you might be able to get it opaque in three coats. I, however, am impatient, so layered it over the same Kleencolor purple.

At this stage, you might be thinking, "Well, that's all very well and good that YOU got these super pretty polishes, but it's a bit mean showing them off when WE can't get them anymore, isn't it?" Which is a totally fair sentiment - but lucky for you Loki's Lacquer has been kind enough to donate an entire set of mini bottles of this collection for you to win! These are the absolute last bottles of this collection that you will EVER be able to get. EVER. They are totally one of a kind, and this competition is the only way you will be able to get them if you weren't on on it when they were first released.

I've decided to go with a normal, easy Rafflecopter giveaway for this one, because I want as many people as possible to be able to enter. The competition opens today, and will run for two weeks. It's also open INTERNATIONALLY. Yes, that's right, I will post these babies ANYWHERE, so get entering!

Now all of that is pretty fucking exciting. But that's not all I have for you today.

When discussing the competition, Tara from Loki's Lacquer also mentioned that she'd put together a little experiement polish, and decided to name it after my blog because it reminded her so much of me. Since it's a black, duochrome polish with holo sparkles, I'm not shocked it reminded her of me - it is, after all, my favourite things all in one polish. But I was so flattered that she would name it after my blog that I didn't know what to say - until I saw pictures of it. Then all I could say is "MOAR! YOU MUST MAKE MOAR!" She was going to make a mini bottle for me, but I got a bit overexcited and, well, I insisted that this polish was worth releasing as a limited edition. and SO SHE DID!!! Or rather she will be. It's not available until June 15th, but once it is I'm counting on you guys to help make sure I don't look like an idiot. I currently have one of the only two bottles of this stuff in existence, so I put together some pictures to convince you that you Need This Polish.

Like Purple Rain, it is quite sheer, so I've layered it over the same Kleencolor purple as the others in this post. (That's the Kleencolor bottle I'm holding - damned if I can figure out how to pose my hand properly holding a mini bottle)

The Reluctant Femme (oh my god, you cannot imagine how excited I am just typing that) will be available from the Loki's Lacquer Etsy store from June 15th. For my foreign friends, keep in mind that Loki's Lacquer DO ship internationally - just send them a message and request rates for your particular country.  I'm giving you lots of notice because the duochrome collection that Blue Steel and Purple Rain were from sold out in three days - this means if you want The Reluctant Femme (and you know you do), you're going to have to be ready to pounce. Set yourself a reminder, or alternatively just keep paying attention around here because I'll be sure to remind you all as often as possible.

In the meantime, be sure to tick the little boxes and enter my competition!

    1. It's so incredibly pretty, and actually very smooth - the holo twinkle is made of micro glitter, so it's the same texture as a plain polish.
